Chronic pain – what are the options, how to manage and best cure?
In this article we will look at various ways of easing chronic pain and share with you the simplest and best cure that many are discovering worldwide.
What is Chronic Pain?
Chronic primary pain is defined by the UK’s National Health Service as persistent pain that continues for longer than 12 weeks despite medication or treatment and accounts for up to a staggering 45% of all GP doctor appointments. Incredibly, according to the NHS, half of all new visits to hospital clinics in the UK are made by people with chronic pain that has no apparent cause.
According to the UK government body NICE (National Institute of Health and Care Excellence) chronic pain is a condition which “can’t be accounted for by another diagnosis” and affects up to half of all people in the UK, which is likely to be a similar figure in many other nations. In fact, it is estimated that up to 40% of people within the US live with chronic pain (cited by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2018 study).
Most people get back to normal after pain following an injury or operation. But sometimes the pain carries on for longer even when the injury or surgical procedure has healed. Doctors are often baffled as to the longevity of the pain.
Chronic pain can also appear without any history of an injury or operation. For no apparent reason and without cause, pain is experienced by many people and is very real. These symptoms are sometimes known as “medically unexplained symptoms” when they last for more than a few weeks, and doctors cannot find a problem within the body that may be the cause. This doesn’t mean the symptoms are faked or “all in the head” – they’re real and can affect a person’s ability to function properly. In some cases the pain is so bad that the person is unable to walk and may need to use a wheelchair or walking aids, or may be confined to bed.
Not understanding the cause can make chronic pain even more distressing and difficult to cope with.
What is the diagnosis?
Many people suffering from chronic pain are diagnosed with fibromyalgia, hormonal issues, chronic fatigue, virus complications, migraine headaches, ME and such like. Without an obvious cause, there is little that a medical professional can do.
What is really the cause?
Traditionally, doctors have treated conditions based on either a physiological or mental health cause. However, every human consists of a spirit, soul and body (soul being the mind, emotions and will). We are complex creatures and there is more to us than simply what you can see with the eye. In traditional pharmaceutical medicine, doctors do not take into account the spiritual aspect of the human being, but for thousands of years it has been well known that the spiritual aspect of a person is very real and has a strong bearing on the person as a whole. We cannot treat just one part of a person without it affecting another.
The reason that up to half of the population experience unexplained pain in their bodies is that many root causes of pain are in fact spiritual. Ancient writings show that the spirit realm has a powerful influence on the physical (see Ephesians 6 in the Christian Bible).
Is there a cure?
For years, doctors have prescribed common painkillers for patients with chronic pain, targeting the physical symptoms rather than the root cause. Increasingly, patients are turning to alternative forms of medicine and healthcare. Indeed, even the BBC recently reported that the UK government body NICE has advised doctors nationwide not to prescribe common painkillers any longer for chronic pain, including paracetamol and ibuprofen, due to long term use being harmful physically. Almost all types of medication, including painkillers, do have side-effects. Surprisingly though, NICE recommends antidepressants, acupuncture or psychological therapy instead.
How safe or effective are alternative forms of treatment?
So if the government health body for the UK advises against common over-the-counter painkillers for chronic pain, which, it says, provides little evidence they help anyway, let’s look at the alternatives it suggests.
Antidepressants may seem like a good solution if the person experiencing chronic pain is showing signs of depression due to the constant pain, which is understandable. However, evidence is clear that the side-effects of taking antidepressants are many and according to the NHS website can include anxiety, shaking, stomach problems, sexual problems, insomnia, blurred vision, problems urinating, tiredness, weight gain, excessive sweating, heart problems, twitching, diabetes, seizures, psychosis, stopping breathing, coma, suicidal thoughts, and if that wasn’t enough, even muscle pain and headaches, presumably the very problems that one was attempting to alleviate in the first place!
How safe and effective is Acupuncture?
According to the NHS, ‘Acupuncture is a treatment derived from ancient Chinese medicine. Fine needles are inserted at certain sites in the body. Traditional acupuncture is based on the belief that an energy, or “life force” flows through the body in channels called meridians. This life force is known as Qi (pronounced “chee”).’ When looking at any alternative therapy that includes ‘energy’ or ‘life force’ it is important to consider where the source of that energy, force originates. According to the Christian Bible, there are a number of forces at play in the world, and the highest force or power belongs to Jesus Christ (see Matthew 28). Alternative practices that are rooted in Eastern religions do not recognise the power source as being Jesus Christ. Therefore, the power is either counterfeit or at best limited. In my book ‘How To Be Healed and Stay Healed’ I cite a former Oriental medicine advocate and teacher who unfortunately after being involved in these practices, subjected herself to the influence of evil spirits. Thankfully when she realised her mistake, she was set free from these spirits by the power of Jesus and her life was transformed.
The third suggestion from NICE, Psychological Therapy, is also known as ‘talking therapies’ and is where, in a safe space, you are encouraged to talk about your difficulties, in this case, the chronic pain you experience. Presumably by talking about your pain and the way it affects your life, this can help you. However, it is unable to remove that pain or cure it.
Getting to the root
So let’s look at what really is causing the pain in your body and how you can be cured. Let’s go back to the fact that you consist of a body, a spirit and a soul (your mind, emotions and will) and that they are all connected. If you go to the doctor because you have a pain and the doctor diagnoses a tumor in your body, then the surgeon will remove that tumor which is the root cause, and the symptoms ie the pain, will leave. You can treat the symptoms, the pain, but until you remove that tumor the pain will still be there. It’s very similar with a spiritual cause. You have pain in your body and if the cause is spiritual, then you need to discover what that is and remove it. Then the pain will go.
Many chronic pain problems, even those that originated with some sort of injury or surgery, are in fact spiritual. Evil spirits are all around and they like to try and enter your life. They seem to be able to enter when our guard is down, such as during a traumatic experience in our lives, or if we come into agreement with them in any way. It’s like we open a door to our lives and in they come. Very often these evil spirits are spirits of pain. Because they came in during a time of trauma in our lives or illness, we need to break any agreement with them and give them their marching orders.
Does it really work?
Kari had severe back pain and she emailed us to let us know what happened to her after watching one of our videos about evil spirits being a cause of pain and how to get free. She told us, “My back had been feeling very achy, strained and stressed. We have spent the last 4 months sailing the Caribbean on our monohull. I also developed a foot cramp in my arch. Well, during your teaching, the pain in my back just melted away and the cramp in my foot left at the same time.” This is just one of thousands of people who have testified of being healed after they’ve heard our teaching about evil spirits being the cause of many ailments.
The best cure
The key thing to remember is that evil spirits will only leave for good when they are confronted by the power of Jesus Christ and it’s important that if you are telling evil spirits to leave that you submit your life to Jesus and choose to follow Him.
