The powerful truth

Not everyone understands the message of the cross, but I pray as you read this article that you will receive more revelation of the death and resurrection of Jesus, so that you can live the life you were create for:

The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing (dying, lost) but to us who are being saved it is the power of God” 1 Corinthians 1:18

The original Greek word there for power (dynamis) means mighty work, strength, power for performing miracles, power of armies. It’s where we get the word dynamite. That power is available to you, today.

So why did Jesus die?

The Bible tells us that “The reason the Son of God came on the scene was to undo and destroy the works of the devil.” 1 John 3:8

You don’t have to look far to see just what the works of the devil are: death, decay, sin (that’s going your own way and missing the mark), sickness – physical, mental, emotional – pain, torment, war, famine, lack, and so on. In fact, it was sin that brought death and all its outworkings into our lives and the world around us.

Not only did Jesus go to the cross to destroy the works of the devil, but He died a horrific death for you, for each one of us, in order to bring us into such a close relationship with Him that we are in union with Him, one with Him. It was the love He has for you, for us, and what He wanted to share with us, that enabled Him to die.

“For the joy set before Him, He endured the cross” Hebrews 12:2

He did it so we could become His holy people; that was His inheritance!

“The riches of His glorious inheritance in His holy people and His incomparably great power for those who believe.” Ephesians 1:19

“…In order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham would come to the Gentiles (that’s all of us), so that we would receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.” Galatians 3:14

Jesus died so that we might be blessed and receive the Holy Spirit! “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Colossians 1:27

What did Jesus accomplish on the cross?

“He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” Colossians 1:13

“Through death He destroyed the one who has the power of death, that is the devil, and freed those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death” Hebrews 2:14

“Jesus Christ took away the curse the law put on us. He changed places with us and put himself under that curse.” Galatians 3:13

“He forgave all our sins…” Colossians 2:13-15

“Here’s the secret: the gospel of grace has made you into coheirs of His promise through your union with him. And you have now become members of his body – one with the Anointed One!” Ephesians 3:6

So Jesus, through His death and resurrection, has set us free from the curse, He destroyed the power of satan, annulling his diabolical works. Jesus has made a life of freedom available to us and now we can receive Father God’s forgiveness and love, be one with Him and full of His Holy Spirit – the greatest power in the universe!

In a moment we’ll look at how you can appropriate this for yourself and live in the good of all that Jesus has done.

See what else Jesus has accomplished for you through His death and resurrection:

“It was our sicknesses that He Himself bore, and our pains that He carried; Yet we ourselves assumed that He had been afflicted, struck down by God, and humiliated. But He was pierced for our offenses, He was crushed for our wrongdoings; The punishment for our well-being was laid upon Him, And by His wounds we are healed.” Isaiah 53:4,5

What does that mean for you and your loved ones?

It means that you can be saved from sin and death, healed physically, mentally and emotionally, live free from fear and torment, and release God’s kingdom realm of heaven for all those you meet:

“The kingdom of heaven has come near. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.” Matthew 10:7,8

Not only can you live a long life, healthy, well and walking in freedom, but get this:

“He has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation.” Colossians 1:22

I pray you get the revelation of these powerful Scriptures and remember them when satan tries to deceive you into living a sinful, decaying, miserable life. That’s simply not the truth.

Resurrection Power and Immortal Life is available for you. Jesus died for you but He didn’t stay dead! On the third day, He rose from the dead, victorious.

He says: “I am the Living One. Look, I was dead and now I am alive for ever and ever, and I hold the keys of death and of hell.” Revelation 1:17

He gave us resurrection life and drew us to Himself by His holy calling on our lives. And it wasn’t because of any good we’ve done, but by His divine pleasure and marvellous grace that confirmed our union with the anointed Jesus, even before time began. This truth is now being unveiled by the revelation of the anointed Jesus, our life-giver, who has dismantled death, obliterating all its effects on our lives, and has manifested His immortal life in us by the gospel.” 2 Timothy 1:10

How can you receive all that Jesus has done for you personally?

First we must recognise that Jesus is the Way: “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

“It is by grace you have been saved through faith, this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God” Ephesians 2:8

“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13

Keep living in the fullness of what Jesus accomplished on the cross

Begin by thanking Him for what He did. Then as you read these Scriptures, ask the Holy Spirit to make them real to you:

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Jesus the anointed One lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God who loves me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20

“I want to know Christ – yes to know the power of His resurrection and participate in His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death”. Philippians 3:10

“For if we have been united with Him in a death like His, we will certainly also be united with Him in a resurrection like His. For we know that our old self was crucified with Him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin – because anyone who has died has been set free from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.” Romans 6:5-8

“Since we are His true children, we qualify to share all his treasures for indeed, we are heirs of God Himself. We also inherit all that He is and all that He has. We will experience being co-glorified with Him provided we accept His sufferings as our own.” Romans 8:17

“There is therefore now no condemnation (condemning to death) for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of Life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.” Romans 8:1-2

I love this verse in Romans 8, but it’s clear that in order to live a life of freedom without condemnation, then we need to be IN Christ Jesus. Spend time with Him, be willing to lay down every part of your life for Him, delight yourself in Him, follow His teachings and let Him live His life through you.

“For if because of one man’s sin (Adam), death reigned through that one man, much more surely will those who receive God’s overflowing grace and the free gift of right-standing with God, reign as kings in life through the one man Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:17

Don’t strive. Receive His free gift and live in the good of all He’s done for you, by faith, each day. Stand firm and keep going:

“…if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel” Colossians 1:23

So I pray that you would “Never be ashamed by the testimony of our Lord or be embarrassed…..” but that you would “Overcome every evil by the revelation of the power of God!” 2 Timothy 1:8

And keep your eyes on Jesus: “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:1-3
