Coronavirus and a Contagious Move of God

A Dream
This January, before we’d heard of the Coronavirus outbreak, I had a dream. It was only a short dream, and in it I was watching a demonic entity and I heard the words clearly: ‘Death destroyer’ and then a word that I’d not heard of: ‘Floo-ha’. I wrote it down in my notes as soon as I woke up, just as I’d heard it.
I asked the Holy Spirit to give me more insight and thought nothing more about it until a while later when the Coronavirus was first mentioned.
Prophetic Words about a Virus
At the start of the year I was also going through prophetic words spoken over us in the past and asking the Lord to show us what our next steps should be. Two prophecies caught my eye and I began to pray into them. The first was from Tim Morley who gave us this word in January 2014:
“What you’re doing won’t be a church planting movement but a Kingdom movement. God is going to cause a movement, and in the early church that’s what it was and it was on the margins of society. They were pushed to the edge of society, with intense persecution.
In 100 AD there were 50-60,000 Christians but by 300 AD there were 34 million. Exponential growth. They had no buildings, no leadership structures like we do, no worship leaders, no Bible as such. It boiled down to two things – love and power.
The Lord is saying this movement is a movement in which old structures and old ways won’t work. The gospel of the Kingdom will be like a virus, like in the first 300 years. A ‘sneezable’ gospel! Pushed to the margins and yet moves in incredible power and force – nothing can stop the growth.
Acceleration. The movement you ignite will be part of a big picture. People being released, apostolic teams – grass roots going out and doing it. God is stripping the old away and we are stepping into something that almost becomes out of control. Nations panic because of a virus, out of control. Apostolic teams are unfolding.” I read this in January, right before any mention of the Coronavirus.
And then the same day I read another prophetic word, given to us by a 12 year old boy in March 2017: “You have a virus like from Planet of the Apes. It’s contagious. It goes to people quickly. People around you get it, then they take it into their home, then it goes to the airport and it travelled all over the world within a year, or whatever. The virus represents God’s love and people are getting it all over and it’s spreading. They are going out and they are carrying it to others.”
It’s very interesting that soon after I’d read these words in January, I had a vision of an angel telling us to go and help birth a move of God in the UK and worldwide. With the thoughts of being contagious with the love and power of the gospel, we stepped out in faith, packed up our home and moved out two weeks ago. At around the same time, the extremely contagious Coronavirus broke out and at the time of writing this, has just been declared a ‘Pandemic’.
As quoted from Tim in his prophecy, “Nations panic because of a virus that is out of control… God is stripping the old away and we are stepping into something that is almost out of control. Apostolic teams are unfolding….”
He is sending us!
The first two towns the Lord has sent us to in the UK to release apostolic teams and help ignite this move of God, just happen to be where the first two places were closed when the virus was initially discovered in the UK. One was a medical centre in one town, the other at a hospital. Confirmation that God is wanting to move with miracles and healings and that we’re in the right place at the right time. Rather than panic that we were heading to the epicentre of the Coronavirus outbreak in the UK, I was excited. I thought of Rick Joyner’s saying: “Warriors run to the sound of battle, not away from it.”
Very often throughout church history we see that a spiritual awakening and move of God happens right after or during some kind of disaster or other challenging circumstance. Think of the Azusa St Revival which happened alongside the massive earthquake in nearby San Francisco which killed 3,000 people. Whether revivals are ignited by more people calling out to God during a disaster or whether there are other reasons, I believe this current pandemic is confirmation and a wonderful opportunity for God to pour out His Spirit and ignite such a powerful move of God such as we’ve never seen before.
Death Destroyer
Going back to the dream I had at the start of the year. Because I heard, “Death destroyer” so clearly, I was sure that was its name. And now with the Coronavirus outbreak, we can see that those words are descriptively accurate. However, looking back today on my dream notes, I saw the words ‘Death destroyer’ as being who Jesus is. The Lord stated that He came to earth to “destroy the works of the enemy”. He has victory over death because of the cross. So Jesus is the destroyer of death: Death Destroyer! And through Him, we can push back death too.
In the dream, I saw the demonic entity but I was watching it, not the other way around. I believe the Lord has given us power, and authority (through His name and His blood) to use that power. Now is the time for us to wake up and use that authority! Rather than being subject to what is going on around us, let’s go on the offensive and push back the darkness.
One of my favourite verses is Luke 10:19 where Jesus says to His followers: “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall harm you!” Snakes and scorpions often represent demonic powers and sickness. Let’s believe these words of Jesus, step out in faith and do something about it. Let’s crush those things underfoot as we march forward carrying the contagious love and power of God. It’s time to go viral!
Be contagious with the love and power of God
So many people are in fear and panic, and many lives disrupted through this pandemic. Nothing is certain anymore and lives are being turned upside down. However, as followers of Jesus who has all authority in heaven and on earth and under the earth, we can choose whether to come into agreement with that fear, panic and destruction from the enemy, or whether, by faith to push through and help ignite this powerful move of God in healing, deliverance and miracles.
What an awesome opportunity we have right now. Let’s grasp our spiritual weapons with both hands, let’s use the arsenal the Lord has given us. We’ve had the teaching, read our Bibles, prayed for God to use us and attended meetings. Now it’s time to step into the fray and put into action everything we’ve learned. He is sending us. Yes it’s scary, yes things are uncertain, yes there is fear around us but with this promise from Psalm 91 in our hearts, let us go and release the contagious, all powerful, message of the good news of Jesus everywhere that we go. And if we’re not allowed out in person, let’s go in the Spirit!
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
3 Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
